Anything is Possible
The C-Dory is the one of the most durable, versatile and economical sea going cruisers built. The classic dory hull does blue-water duty in both its cruising and fishing configurations. Strong enough to take the pounding of the Pacific, in the Northwest, shallow enough to beach, and light enough to be trailerable.
At Guenter's Outboards, we receive the boat bare bones from C-Dory. We leave it up to you to decide what options you want and need, then finish building your boat here instead of selling you someone else's idea of the perfect boat.

Construction
Hull, deck, and cabin are laid up by hand in meticulously maintained molds, which are replaced whenever the slightest degradation in the nonskid begins to show. The hull bottom is cored with 1 1/2" balsa, around which are hand-laid eight layers of fiberglass mat in weights varying from 1.5 to 24 ounces, until a bottom thickness of two inches is achieved. One layer of chop applied where fiberglass material bonds to the core. A 1" brass half-round strip is bonded to the hull from the bow eye to the curve of the hull for impact resistance. Deck surfaces are cored with 1/2 " balsa, the transom with 1" high-density balsa, under a similar lay-up schedule. The cabin walls are solid fiberglass.
The C-Dory is available in a 16' or 22' length hull in either the Angler or Cruiser configurations.

Boats are typically outfitted with single 45-70 horsepower outboards, although the larger models may be equipped with twin four-stroke motors.
An amateur yachtsman soon looks like a Pro handling his C-Dory around a busy marina. Maneuverability in tight quarters is a snap, and with only 7" of draft you can beach it without having to wade to shore. The C-Dory 22' holds a steady course while cruising, and fishermen will love the way the boat tracks at trolling speeds. Many customers have likened the boat to a old "Volkswagen or Jeep" because of it's easy handling and simple easy to maintain structure and systems.
By definition a dory is a flat bottom boat with high flaring sides. C-Dory's design is a modernization of the classic dory bottom. The hull is near flat at the stern and gradually becomes a "V" towards the bow, deep reverse chines hold and channel the flow of water along the bottom, reducing wake and spray and increasing the hull's efficiency. The heavy side plank lines serve as spray knockers, helping to make the C-Dory a very dry running hull. This hull will come up on step at as little as 9 knots. Design cruise is from 12-18 knots. This may not be the fastest boat around but it makes up for speed with it's great handling, incredible fuel economy and the ability to carry a lot of weight and still plane.
